The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) — Iloilo International Airport has started work on the Runway Edge Strip and slope correction, including embankment works along Sectors 5 and 7. The rehabilitation began on August 11 and is expected to be completed within 45 calendar days, with work due to finish by September 25, 2025.
To allow crews to carry out the repairs safely, a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued declaring a daily airport closure from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m. CAAP said the window was chosen after consultations with airlines and other stakeholders to keep disruption to regular passenger flights to a minimum while providing sufficient time for the necessary airside works.
Work under the project will focus on:
• Removing soil deposits that have encroached onto sections of the runway pavement;
• Correcting uneven surfaces on the airside to meet international standards; and
• Filling low-lying areas to improve drainage, maintain runway friction and reduce the risk of hydroplaning during heavy rain.
When complete, the rehabilitation is expected to improve both operational efficiency and runway safety. CAAP thanks passengers, airline partners and the public for their understanding and cooperation during the work.
